Double Chocolate Oreo Cookies

Oreo cookies themselves are fantastic, but crumbled up and thrown into my classic brownie batter cookie dough, these double chocolate oreo cookies are sure to become a new favourite!
It is no exaggeration that I have made hundreds of different cookies over the years, and when I made these ones and brought them over to my family to try, they said they were one of the very best cookies I have made yet! Now that’s saying something…
The Ingredients
Like most of my cookie recipes, these one’s just need the basics. Room temperature, unsalted butter works best for these cookies. A combination of brown and white sugar perfectly sweetens the cookie while keeping them moist, and Dutch processed cocoa powder ensures a velvety, chocolate flavor. I use mint chocolate Oreos in this recipe for a chocolate mint cookie, but you can use any Oreo flavor you like!
The Steps
- Like all great cookie recipes, start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees and grabbing a parchment lined baking tray. Next, pull out all of the needed ingredients for this recipe; there is nothing worse than starting a recipe and then realizing you are missing something!
- Combine your wet ingredients! In a mixing bowl combine your room temperature butter, both sugars, vanilla and eggs. Combine this well but do not overmix.
- Next, add your sifted cocoa powder in to your wet mixture. It is helpful to sift the cocoa powder to avid any large clumps in the batter.
- Next, combine your dry ingredients in a separate bowl! Combine the flour, baking powder and salt and mix this. Then, add this to your wet mixture gradually until it is fully combined.
- Roughly chop up Oreos of your choice! You will need about 12 normal sized Oreos. My favorite way to chop the Oreos would be to put them in a large Ziploc bag and use the bottom of a stainless steel water bottle to crush them up. Once chopped, add to your cookie dough, along with the chocolate chips, and fold using a spatula.
- Scoop the cookie dough in to 2 tbsp sized balls of dough and place on your cookie sheet. Bake these for 10 minutes.
- Once the cookies are cooked and cooled, drizzle them with melted chocolate and top with a few more crushed Oreos for good measure.
