Prep Time 20 minutes
Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

For the Crust
  • - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • - 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • - 1 egg
  • - 2 tsp vanilla
  • - 1 1/4 cup flour
  • - 1/2 tsp salt
  • - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • - 1.5 cups rolled oats
For the Fudge
  • - 1.5 cups chocolate chips
  • - 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • - 1/4 cup butter

Method

  1. For the crust, start by browning the butter. Add the butter to a pan on medium heat and allow it to start bubbling. Stir continuously and as it bubbles for a few minutes the bubbles will start to reduce and you’ll start to notice toasty flecks in the butter.
  2. Add the brown butter, sugar, and egg to a mixer. Combine thoroughly and add in the vanilla.
  3. Combine the flour, salt, cinnamon and oats in a separate bowl and then gradually add to the white mixture until combined.
  4. For the fudge, add the butter add the chocolate chips to a pan on medium heat, you can use the same pan from browning the butter earlier. Stir this until the chocolate chips begin to melt and then pour in the can of sweetened condensed milk. Continue stirring this on low heat until all of the chocolate chips are melted and it is combined well.
  5. To make the bars add about 3/4 of the crust mixture to a 8x8 pan lined with parchment paper. Press the oat crust mixture down firmly to create the crust. Pour the fudge on top of the crust and smooth. Crumble the remaining oat crust mixture on top in about 1 tablespoon blobs all over the top of the fudge, but with fudge still peeking through.
  6. Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes until the oat on top looks set.
  7. Let cool completely before cutting, a couple hours at least. If you loved the oat fudge bars at Starbucks and are missing them, you need to try these!!!!! Enjoy 🤗
